Summer Skincare

Moisture and protection for skin exposed to sun, heat and water.

Keep your skin clean and moisturised

After a long winter indoors, summer brings sunshine, warm weather and outdoor activities such as swimming and picnics. But as sun exposure increases, your summer skincare needs to adapt to prevent the problems typical of the season: rashes, pigmentation, wrinkles and roughness. In summer, dry skin often becomes even drier and rougher, and oily skin even oilier.

To care for your skin as well as possible in hot weather, it is important to keep it both clean and moisturised. Summer brings extra challenges: chlorinated pool water, dust, sweat and stronger UVA and UVB radiation, which can increase the risk of spots, for example. A cool shower and a gentle, skin-friendly cleanser help remove sweat, chlorine residue and excess oil.

Why is moisturising so important in hot weather? Just like the rest of the body, the skin needs more moisture in summer for the skin barrier to work properly. The outer layer of the skin is largely made up of water, and when the skin dehydrates, the barrier weakens and the skin becomes more vulnerable. Effective summer care must correct this imbalance.
